New Industrial and Technological Cooperation Between Syria and China to Boost Local Production

From the heart of the economic momentum at the "Nas Tex" exhibition, the Syrian business sector launched a new driving force for local production and international cooperation. This came through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Damascus and Countryside Chamber of Industry, headed by Engineer Mohammad Ayman al-Mawlawi, and the Syrian-Chinese Business Council, headed by Mr. Fadi Al-Mhaimeed. This step reflects a genuine desire from both parties to create an advanced investment and industrial environment. This environment allows national enterprises to benefit directly from the technological expertise and commercial opportunities abundant in the Chinese business community. The MoU aims to enhance industrial, commercial, and investment cooperation between Syrian and Chinese companies and institutions. It seeks to facilitate communication between Chamber members and technology suppliers and companies in China. Furthermore, it aims to introduce available industrial opportunities in Damascus, its countryside, and Syria in general. Its objectives also include organizing economic delegations, missions, and bilateral meetings, as well as supporting partnership opportunities in priority production sectors. Additionally, it encourages the transfer of expertise, knowledge, and technical and managerial skills, while developing the capabilities of industrial enterprises in the fields of modernization, quality, export, and shipping. The proposed areas of cooperation expand to cover vital sectors, most notably industry and production, by facilitating the procurement of production lines, machinery, and raw materials. It also includes transferring modern technology, such as industrial automation, digitization, and energy rationalization. The cooperation extends to the trade, import, and export sectors, supporting Syrian industrialists in understanding dealing mechanisms and trade compliance with Chinese suppliers. Moreover, it explores opportunities to connect Chinese investors with Syrian partners in productive and service projects, and aims to develop services in industrial cities and zones. This is in addition to cooperating in the fields of quality and standards, logistics services, organizing joint participation in exhibitions and conferences, and launching specialized training programs in industrial management, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation.Under this memorandum, the Damascus and Countryside Chamber of Industry commits to providing the Council with general information and preliminary lists regarding the Syrian industrial sector's needs for machinery, raw materials, and technology, as well as nominating interested industrialists and companies. In return, the Syrian-Chinese Business Council commits to facilitating the Chamber's communication with relevant Chinese entities, including companies, investors, and chambers of commerce. It will also introduce the Chinese side to available investment opportunities and coordinate the organization of business meetings, encounters, and mutual delegation visits. Both parties fully affirm their commitment to respecting the confidentiality of shared information and the laws and regulations in force in both countries, making this cooperation a powerful catalyst for developing and modernizing national enterprises by leveraging China's massive manufacturing capabilities
