On the occasion of the launch of the 63rd Damascus International Fair, the Damascus and Countryside Chamber of Industry opens wide doors for regional cooperation to discuss joint investments that support the reconstruction process. Eng. Muhammad Ayman Al-Mawlawi, Chairman of the Damascus and Countryside Chamber of Industry, met with the participating Pakistani delegation at the fair, accompanied by the Pakistani Deputy Chargé d'Affaires in Damascus, Mr. Umar Hayat Khan, in the presence of board members Mr. Anas Traboulsi and Mr. Osama Al-Nann, alongside the Chamber's Director, Mr. Wasim Saad.During the meeting, Mr. Umar Khan emphasized his anticipation of a new phase of economic cooperation aligning with the beginning of the construction and reconstruction era. He considered the lifting of sanctions a fundamental pillar for the recovery of the Syrian economy. Furthermore, he expressed his country's strong desire to increase bilateral trade volume and develop import-export operations. Khan also highlighted the importance of establishing a "Joint Pakistani-Syrian Business Council," noting that this matter received special attention from the Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, during their recent meeting in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad. He affirmed their readiness to welcome upcoming economic delegations to overcome any bilateral obstacles.For his part, Eng. Muhammad Ayman Al-Mawlawi confirmed the Syrian industrial sector's eagerness to build close investment and commercial partnerships with the Pakistani side. He stressed that the Chamber is open to all forms of cooperation that serve the mutual interests of both countries, expressing hope for tangible progress in trade volume during the coming period. He also indicated that the Chamber will initiate a proposal to form the joint business council to the Minister of Economy and Industry to follow up on procedures and name the Syrian representatives in coordination with the Pakistani side.In the same context, Mr. Anas Traboulsi explained that Syria today represents a fertile ground for investment. He pointed out that the business environment now offers full facilities to investors to meet the needs of the Syrian market and establish joint factories. Practical proposals to activate cooperation included exchanging databases, information, and exhibition agendas between both sides, in addition to providing the Pakistani Embassy with the directory of companies participating in the Syrian Industries Exhibition "Syriex," scheduled to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.The practical steps also encompassed encouraging direct cooperation between industrialists to secure raw materials and exchange expertise. They emphasized the importance of building strategic partnerships to enhance qualification, applied research, and innovation to achieve the desired economic and professional development. In this framework, the Chamber will issue a circular paving the way for specialized bilateral meetings between Syrian engineering, pharmaceutical, and textile sectors and the Pakistani companies participating within the Pakistani pavilion at the Damascus International Fair
